In its mission statement, the school says that it nurtures independent learners, values its community’s opinions and is accountable. The school recognizes that each child learns in different ways, that learning should be fun and that play is the essence of being a child.
Horizon School also says on its website that it looks to create independent learners with the skills and attributes to manage themselves, their relationships with others and to contribute to the community, both local and global.
Parents are invited to visit the school during their open mornings held weekly. This can be arranged by calling the school in advance.
If you are interested in registering your child at the school, a registration form is available for downloading on the school website. This should be completed and faxed through to the school at (+9714) 3429759. A file will then be opened for your child.
An assessment for your child’s entrance into the school is based on the following: Communication skills, social development, behaviour, attitude, manners, physical development – both large and small motor control – and academic ability are assessed.
Assessments for Foundation 1 and Foundation 2 are based primarily on observation of the child at play, engaging her/him in conversation. The school will observe children at play in the playground looking at physical development and body awareness. If possible, staff from Horizon School may visit your child at their nursery school.
The school says it takes its time in order to get to know your child and assessments will normally take 30-50 minutes. All assessments are conducted either individually or in the company of a small group to ensure that it is a relaxed, stress-free experience.
The school invites enquiries from parents on current academic year school fees directly to the registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org. No information on school fees is published on the website. However, it is estimated that the fee structure is in the range of Dhs 26,220 to Dhs35, 210 approximately per year.
