British Elementary through to 6th Form

Jumeirah College offers the Curriculum for England and Wales for 11 to 16 year olds with a sixth form for 16 to 18 year olds. The school was established in 1999 and prepares students for the GCSE and A level exams. JC, or Jumeirah College as it’s popularly known, is one of the better schools in Dubai, and it’s the one school that’s probably close to the reputation of Dubai College – which is known as ‘the best British school in Dubai. But any school that’s sending students to Warwick, Cambridge, London School of Economics has got to have a fairly high standard.

The school is located in Jumeirah, Dubai, just off Al Wasl Road. The school is in one of the most well established and affluent areas of Dubai, and has a pretty large campus and a high standard of facilities. The school buildings and facilities are extremely well maintained.
Who runs the school?
The school is owned and operated by GEMS Education, a private international company headquartered in Dubai that owns and manages schools around the world. The school’s Principal and CEO is Mrs Fiona Cottam and the Vice Principal is Mr Peter Stapley.

What facilities does it offer?
A multi-purpose auditorium, sports hall, full size swimming pool, IT and design technology suites, art, dance, music and drama studios, grassed playing fields, tennis and netball courts. In addition, Jumeirah College offers a programme of performing and visual arts, sports and other extra curricular activities.
What is the school’s philosophy?
The school website says that “high quality standards of teaching and learning in a caring environment are at the core”. The school’s stated purpose is to combine a “strong academic focus together with the all-round development of each student’s potential.”
Admissions requirements
Admissions for years 7 to 11
•Applicants must sit for a common assessment test following the results of which places are offered first to year 6 students at Jumeira Primary School, then to siblings of students already attending Jumeirah College, followed by children of members of staff and finally to year 6 students of other schools.
Admissions for the Sixth Form
•Applicants must meet minimum entry level requirements at GCSE levels (four B grades and two C grades)
