The Indian High School, Dubai, founded in 1961 is a modern English medium school, run by a Board of Trustees. In keeping with its vision, the school provides a liberal education that will create productive global citizens.
The school, recognised by the Ministry of Education, Dubai and permanently affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, has adopted the syllabus of the CBSE and prepares students for the All India Secondary School Examination (Grade 10) and Senior School Certificate Examination (Grade 12).
The first batch appeared for the All India Secondary School Examination in April 1977 and the first batch of students for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination was sent in April 1979. At the +2 stage, the school offers Science, Commerce and Arts streams.
Location
The school functions in two campuses. The Junior School at Al Garhoud accommodates Pre-Primary classes (Girls and Boys of grade 1-4). The Senior School situated in Za’abeel East, has Grades 5 to 12 (Girls) and Grades 5 to 10 (Boys) in the Morning Shift and Grades 11 and 12 (Boys) in the Afternoon Shift. The school has a fleet of 100 air-conditioned buses to transport the students and staff.

Who runs the school?
The CEO of the school is Ashok Kumar. The CEO is the institutional leader who is responsible for articulating the mission of the school, shaping its culture and protecting and maintaining its integrity. He is backed in his efforts by an efficient team comprising of the Principal, Section Supervisors, HODs and Subject Coordinators.
This team works towards building a work ethos in the school that is characterised by clear goals, specific directions and confidence in subordinates. The delegation of responsibilities to staff in accordance with specialisation and competence has helped nurture expertise in various fields.
The honorary chairman is Mohan Valrani.

What facilities/programmes does the school offer?
Five well equipped science labs for physics, chemistry, biology, engineering graphics and home science, a fully equipped physical education department, the Aryabhatta Reference and Research centre library with its contemporary and comprehensive collection of books, publications, periodicals multimedia library, curriculum based material etc. required to facilitate collaborative and interactive learning, an 1800 seater Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, a canteen and Recess Radio – a radio channel for and by students.

ADMISSION RULES, KG1
1. Any attempt to fill more than one form for one child will result in his /her disqualification for admission.
2. Children coming from Sharjah or Ajman will not be granted admission.
3. Entries with regard to Name, Date and place of Birth should be in conformity with the passport
4. Children seeking admission to KG 1 class should have completed 3(three)years of age as on 15th April of the current year
5. Final selection to Grade KG 1 will depend on the child’s performance at an assessment session to ascertain his/her ability in independence, speech and physical development to attend a pre -school.
6. Underage children are not granted admission in keeping with instruction from the Ministry of Education, However, in special circumstances, the age limit for pupil seeking admission from Grade 2 to Grade 9 and coming from recognized schools, can be waived to some extent, by the CEO/Principal.
7. All admissions from Grade KG 2 to Grade 9 are granted strictly based on the performance at the ELIGIBILITY TEST ,interview with Principal, availability of seats, and submission of his/her original Transfer Certificate or School leaving Certificate from the last school attended by him/her showing his /her Annual Examination results and promotion to higher class. Please note that no preference is given to pupils whose brothers /sisters are studying in this school.
8. After the Eligibility Test, rank order merit list of the successful candidates will be prepared and displayed on the Notice Board, Parents of successful candidates will be informed as and when VACCANCIES arise, Admissions are subject to availability of seats.
9. School Management reserves the right to reject any admission without assigning any reason.
10. No provisional admission will be granted.
11. All admissions are subject to MINISTRY’S APPROVAL.
12. Children on VISIT VISA are not eligible for admission.
13. No admission will be granted to pupils coming from UNRECOGNISED SCHOOLS.
14. No pupil is permitted to attend school till his/her Health card (valid) photocopy and vaccination card (original) is submitted to the school’s Medical Centre.
15. Admission to grades 10, 11, 12 is at the discretion of the CEO/Principal, depending upon the child’s performance at the last annual examination and as per CBSE rules.
