Nursery School

With more than 20 years of experience in professional childcare and in early childhood education, the nursery first opened a branch in Mankhool and has continued to expand to branches in Bur Dubai and Jumeirah.
The nursery accepts children from the ages of 6 months to four years and follows the British National Curriculum in order to help your child develop the necessary skills to progress on to the primary school of your choice.
The school’s principals have more than 20 years professional childcare experience in various schools in the UK. The teaching staff has been selected for their qualifications, experience and aptitude.
Location
There are two branches – one in Mankhool (villa 20A, street 33) and in Jumeirah (street 6b, Jumeirah)
Curriculum
The nursery provides a variety of interesting activities tailored to each child’s age, stage of development and preferences. Activities offered are fun and presented through the three modalities of learning: Visual, Audio & Kinesthetic.
Children are encouraged to love learning by offering a broad and balanced curriculum with opportunities to apply their learning to new situations. Children are also encouraged to develop as individuals, by becoming more independent, aware and concerned about others.
The curriculum offered at the British Orchard nursery divides children’s learning and development into the following areas:
Problem solving, reasoning & numeracy – develop an experience of numbers, shapes, patterns and measurement through play and structured context. Activities that develop mathematical thinking include jigsaw, play dough, threading and lacing, sand, water, cookery and imaginative play as well as the track area and construction. Children use numbers in play and learn to recognize and use them later to develop mathematical ideas.
Knowledge & understanding of the world – Children develop knowledge, skills and understanding to help them make sense of their world. They learn about their own and other cultures and are taught to explore and investigate materials and the natural world.
Physical development – Indoor and outdoor play promotes the healthy development of bodies. Running, jumping, hopping, skipping, riding trikes, throwing and catching balls, bean bags and watering plants all help promote gross motor skills.
Creative development – Art, music, movement, dance, imaginative and role play encourages creativity. Children explore a variety of media, working with colour, texture, shape, space and form. They develop their imagination through stories, role play, dance, music and musical instruments.
Communication, language & literacy –The nursery provides a language-rich learning environment, thus giving children the opportunity to speak and listen, to share their ideas and feelings. Storytime helps develop a love of reading, while songs, rhymes and the Jolly Phonics programme helps them to learn about the shapes and sounds of letters. Attempting to write for themselves, making lists, captions, cards and writing their own stories with words and pictures are also part of the curriculum.
Personal, social & emotional development – Children become independent and self-confident, developing positive relationships with their peers and adults, working alongside others companionably and co-operatively. This helps develop a sense of community and appreciation of similarities and differences in our diverse society.
