The nursery follows the early childhood curriculum based on recommendations by the British Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and the Office for Standards in Education UK (Ofsted). The nursery aims to provide an age appropriate and balanced coverage of six early childhood learning goals.
Language, communication and Literacy Development – All children are given the opportunity to talk and communicate in a widening range of situations, to respond to adults and to each other, to practice and extend the range of vocabulary and communication skill they use, and to listen carefully. Opportunities are provided to develop reading and writing skills to explore and enjoy words and text in broad range of contexts, and to experience a variety of book.
Mathematics and Cognitive Development – Opportunities for all children to develop their understanding of numbers, measurements, patterns, shapes and space by providing a broad range of contexts in which they can explore, enjoy and learn, practice and talk about them.
Personal (self-awareness), Emotional and Social Development – Support the transition to and between settling in period, promote and understanding of multicultural issues and provide opportunities for each child to become a valued member of that group and community so that a strong self-image and self-esteem are promoted.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World – Provide opportunities to all children to solve problems, make decisions, experiment, predict, plan and question in a variety of contexts, and to explore and find out about their environment, people and places that have significance in their lives.
Physical development, health & hygiene – Provide opportunities for children to develop and practice their fine and gross motor skills, and to increase their understanding of how their bodies work and what they need to be healthy and safe.
Creative and artistic development – Provide the opportunities to explore and share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings through a variety of art, design and technology, music and movement, dance and imaginative and role play activities.
Each child grows at his/her own pace and is therefore encouraged to progress accordingly to his/her full potential, while integrating with a group as a whole. Each child is regularly assessed and his/her development monitored. The children are not forced beyond their capabilities.
All children have a natural desire to learn, and they learn best via hands on experiences. Play in various forms nurtures every aspect of a young child’s growth and development. It provides the natural environment needed to construct their knowledge and makes learning enjoyable. When children select their own learning experiences from a carefully prepared age appropriate environment, it provided opportunities for them to question, explore, discover, organise and create. The nursery’s aim is to provide them the resources to achieve these goals.
All nursery classrooms and playrooms are large and bright and well equipped with quality multi level educational books, reference books, story books, toys, puzzles, Lego, construction blocks, games, soft play, simple musical instruments, audio/video aids, and computers etc.
Children of each age group are provided with separate spacious, outdoor facilities consisting of large shaded, grass, paved, sand and water play areas. All classes follow a flexible daily routine with snack/drinks breaks and an active session followed by a quite activity.
