Curriculum
As a Reggio Emilia inspired nursery, Kids Cottage Nursery is commited to encouraging the development of the whole child within a lively, stimulating and nurturing environment. Through the Reggio Emilia inspired Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, the nursery curriculum supports your child to develop independence, confidence, self-esteem and a love for learning.
Founded by Loris Malaguzzi (1920-1994) in the city of Reggio Emilia, northern Italy, the Reggio Emilia approach was developed for municipal child-care and education programmes serving children below six years of age.
This approach requires children to be seen as competent, resourceful, curious, imaginative and inventive learners. Children learn and develop through an intrinsic desire to play, explore, create, interact and communicate. The internationally famous Reggio Emilia approach has been adopted in many countries like UK, USA, UAE, Australia and New Zealand.
In the Reggio Emilia approach, the parent’s role is considered to be an essential one. Educators see parents as being an active partner in their child’s learning and development. The vision of the child as a competent learner demands that educators are aware of the children’s interests and questions when creating the environment and facilitate challenging and stimulating learning and development experiences. Educators document the children’s learning journey through photographs and descriptions of activities and potential learning outcomes.
The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework presents the child with a variety of themes and activities to explore new concepts and ideas.
The framework encompasses six key areas of development:
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Creative Development
Communication, Language & Literacy
Knowledge & Understanding of the World
Problem Solving, Reasoning & Numeracy
Physical Development
